Photographing the Photographers

The Cherry Blossoms were out at High Park in Toronto and so were the masses. ‘Getting the shot’ seemed to be the order of the day.  I headed out with the vision of photographing the photographers.  I snapped a few but between the cold I was battling and the crowds (which also required battling) I wasn’t really feeling it and bailed fairly quickly.  Here a handful that capture the tip of the iceberg of the Cherry Blossom madness.

Selfies galore:

Some people actually took pictures of the trees:

There were the ‘Long Lens Larrys’ armed to the teeth:

There were the ‘Insta-girls’ and their admirers:

Some people brought models:

This guy even tied his model up (I guess it was a double homage to the Japanese gift of the Sakura trees and Kinbaku…):

And some just took pictures of the many dogs…:

More info re Cherry Blossoms in High Park:

The first Japanese Somei-Yoshino Cherry Tree was planted here in 1959 and it was present from the citizens of Tokyo. These trees are the earliest to bloom and are much loved for their fluffy pink and white flowers. Another 34 cherry trees were donated to High Park from the Sakura project.
