Suffice to say it involved having a few Guinness, hopping a fence, walking along a long stretch of cross town rails, catching great end of day light, having a train roar by toward the sunset and standing about two and a half feet from said train with a 50 mm prime lens, slow shutter, pan and scan and shoot…

This past week, Eric, the patriarch of the Chelsea Toronto Supporters Club, turned 80 years old. He’s been a life long supporter of Chelsea and as a school boy was at the famous 1945 friendly v Dynamo Moscow at the end of the war along with another 100,000 or so fans. In celebration of this marquee birthday the Chelsea Toronto Supporters surprised Eric with a birthday cake at halftime of this week’s West Brom game at our home pub Scallywags. A rousing chorus of Happy Birthday echoed throughout the third floor ‘shed end’. After the game, a 2-1 loss, a grateful Eric lamented, as only he can say, “well, that’s Chelsea for you.”
